Major duty free outlets

All of Manchester Airport’s three terminal buildings offer fantastic opportunities for duty-free shopping. Alpha Airport Shopping offers all the usual cosmetics, fragrances, tobacco, alcohol, electronics, clothing and confectionery items for about 17% less than anywhere outside the airport ground. There is also the Ibiza Tax and Duty Free Store, which passengers will find in both Terminal one and two. Here, designer brands of beauty products and fashion accessories can be purchased at bargain prices. So whether your vice is Prada, Guess, Clinique, Chanel, Oakley, Victoria’s Secret, Lancome or Radley, there is guilt-free shopping to be done at Manchester’s array of Duty-free stores.

Duty free limits

Manchester Airport’s Duty-free shops do not personally apply any limitations on the number of items passengers can purchase, which is why they provide a Shopping Collection and Home Delivery Service. However, there are certain local and international laws applied to the amount passengers are allowed to take out of the country. Passengers travelling within the European Union generally need not worry about the amount of tobacco products, alcohol and perfumes they buy. Passengers travelling outside the European Union should consult the duty-free allowance chart on display in the Duty-Free shops at Manchester Airport to avoid security concerns.

Hot items

Imagine being able to buy those incredible designer brands – Gucci, Prada, Oakley, Swarovsky, DKNY, Ray Ban, Guess, Radley and Guess – for up to 20% less than anywhere else. When it comes to hot items, the Duty-free stores at Manchester Airport are guaranteed to stop you dead in your tracks- so don't be afraid to treat yourself (or perhaps a friend or family member). The hottest items include designer perfumes (e.g. Chanel), leading names in beauty and skin care products (Clinique), the best in sunglasses (Oakley, Ray Ban) and sexy lingerie by Victoria’s Secret: you can walk out of Manchester Airport looking like a leading authority in fashion at bargain costs!

Carry on luggage

The former baggage restrictions at Manchester Airport were lifted as of 2008, so now passengers are allowed to take more than one item of hand luggage with them onto their flight. Having said this, anything above a certain weight (varies greatly by airline and destination) will probably be penalized with by a fine. As such, it is best for passengers to avoid going too over the top at the Duty-free stores!

No liquid or cream containers exceeding 100ml or grams are allowed in the carry-on luggage, although a bottle or two of duty-free wine or liqueur probably won’t cause any problems. Liquids purchased from duty-free must remain unopened and need to be kept in the sealed plastic bag provided at the point of purchase.
