MAPS AND DIRECTIONS
By Road
There are a number of different ways one can access the main route into the airport (A79), however, once on this road, your destination is either the Prestwick Airport parking area, or back towards the city center. The airport itself is located approximately 60km from Glasgow city centre and 2km from Prestwick itself, so getting there is fairly easy using nearby motorways.
From the North
Coming from a northerly direction such as Kilmamock, follow the A77, which runs in a southwesterly direction. Just outside the airport grounds, take a right onto the A78. You will come to a traffic circle at which you must keep left. The road then becomes the A79, which will take you directly into the Prestwick Airport parking facilities. Similarly, if you are From Irvine in the north, take the A78 and follow it straight through until it becomes the A79 airport link.
From the South
Approaching the Prestwick Airport parking area from the south, get onto the A77 headed north. Within the city centre of Prestwick, you can connect to the airport road, the A79 via Heathfield Road (B743), or alternatively follow the A77, which then circles the airport becoming the A78 and then joining the A79 from behind.
From the East
The A70 is the main route servicing Prestwick city from the east. From this arterial road, turn right onto the A77 and follow it around the airport grounds and right into the Prestwick Airport parking facilities.
From the West
There isn’t much to the west of the Prestwick airport save for the icy and wet Firth of Clyde!
All major routes approaching the terminal building and Prestwick Airport parking facilities are very well sign-posted, so departing passengers shouldn’t worry about getting lost. The city centre is situated immediately to the south, so one can always use that as their reference.
Domestic Flights
The best, quickest and most convenient way to travel is by air, which is why many passengers choose to reach their final destinations using one of Prestwick’s domestic carriers. Passengers will, however, find domestic flights to and from Prestwick Airport to be somewhat limited. The airline dominating the domestic flight schedules is Ryanair, which runs regular shuttle services to Belfast City, Dublin, Bournemouth as well as to three locations within London: Stansted International, the City of Derry and Eglinton Airport. Flybe is another domestic carrier servicing Prestwick Airport and offers routine flights to Jersey.
